Top 10 Baby Names for 2015

One of the first challenges parents often face is deciding on a name for their new bundle of joy. Should you opt for a family name, follow in the path of celebs and go with something trendy and original (i.e. North and Apple), or stick with the classics? With so many names out there, it can sometimes be hard to choose the right one.

The Social Security Administration recently released a list of the most popular baby names for 2015, and just for fun, we thought we’d share the results with you.

On the national list, Noah and Emma were ranked as the No. 1 baby names of 2015, and some local parents agree.

Noah beat out Mason taking the No. 1 spot in Connecticut for 2015, with Emma landing in the No. 2 spot for the second consecutive year. Olivia dropped in popularity in Connecticut, falling to the No. 3 spot, replaced by Sophia as the No. 1 choice in 2015.

New Yorkers, on the other hand, are big fans of Olivia for girls—knocking Sophia from the No. 1 spot down to No. 3 for 2015. New York state parents also like Liam best for boys, with Jacob following closely behind as the No. 2 most popular name, and Emma is No. 2 for girls. Noah is still popular too, taking the No. 4 spot for boys in New York.
