Celebrate Art, Music, Dancing and More at the Serious Fun Arts Fest

Enjoy a week of culture, public art, music, dance, and fun for the whole family at the upcoming Serious Fun Arts Fest in White Plains.

Held from October 12th-October 16th, the Serious Fun Arts Fest features over 200 artists whose work will displayed throughout downtown White Plains. This includes public art displays, including a skyscraper-high landmark mural on The Mitchell by artist Bianca Romero and sculpture installations by artists Shelley Parriott, Margaret Roleke and Cheryl Wing-Zi Wong. There will also be a six-story vibrant fabric sculpture by artist Amanda Browder on the front façade of Arts Westchester.

Some highlights include Chamber Music with the Phil Grace, WUZA-WUZA African Music & Dance Ensemble,  Family Fun: Songs From the Middle East with Matt Turk and Friends, Jitterbags: Jazz for Kids, Open Mic Poetry, pop-up dance featuring Steffi Nossen Dance, and so much more! There will also be a performance of “The Prom” at the White Plains Performing Arts Center,  street performances, art making for families with the ArtsMobile at Renaissance Plaza, a Hula hoop and Chinese Fan workshop, a poetry event, and much more.

More Serious Fun Fest highlights include:

  • Enjoy self-guided art walk with your family. Check out the map for your route.
  • Watch a concert featuring headliner Sammy Rae & The Friends on Sunday, October 16th. The band features an electrifying act, ranging from classic rock to soul in high-energy performances. There will also be performances by Brighton Beat and ANDROMEDA. You can get your tickets tickets for the October 16 concert here.
  • Enjoy a free Saturday block party. This features performances by the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, REMY, Westchester Dance Artists, Matt Turk and Friends, Will Evans and Porter Carroll, Jr.
  • The Social Fabric, the new exhibition at Arts Westchester’s gallery, features recent works and site-responsive commissions by artists who use textiles and fabrics to explore issues of broad social consequence.
  • Visit the Serious Fun Art Fair at 1 Martine Avenue in White Plains. This five-day pop-up in at Macy’s Backstage with more than 200 artists organized by the Blue Door Art Center, New Rochelle Art Association, and others.
  • Watch live mural painting from artists Katie Reidy, Ian Rizzo, and Ramiro Davaro-Comas.
