Winter break is an exciting time of year for Westchester kids. For parents, though, it can be tricky to navigate if you are working and/or don’t want your kids to be zoned out on screens all week long. Enter winter break camps in Westchester.
Many have flexible one-day options to camp for the full-week, offering everything from sports to swimming to sewing – and more! Check out our list of some options that your kids will enjoy during the upcoming winter break.
Winter School Break Mini Camp (Cornwall)
Kids ages 5-10 years old can join the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum for their popular nature-based Winter School Break Mini Camp for children ages 5-10, at the Outdoor Discovery Center location: 120 Muser Drive, Cornwall- off Angola Road. The mini camp runs from Monday, December 26 through Friday, December 30 from 9:00am-3:00pm. Sessions are available for kids ages 5 and 6 and kids age 7-10. Mini-campers will join Nature Museum Educators for some seasonal fun and enjoy engaging hands-on activities, crafts, games, wintry walks and more! Campers should bring a lunch, refillable water bottle, and dress appropriately for the weather. Admission for HHNM Members is $325 for the week and non-members are $350 for the week. Sew Happy Studios (Mamaroneck)
Sew Happy offers four three-day mini camps from December 27th – 29th. Camps include “Intro To Sewing Machine,” “Me & My Doll Winter Wonderland, “Snuggle Up” Sewing Machine Camp, and “All About Cupcakes.” In Intro To Sewing Machine, kids ages 8-13 will learn how to use a sewing machine. In “Me & My Doll Winter Wonderland,” kids ages 6-10 year old will make an outfit for an 18″ doll. In “Snuggle Up” Sewing Machine Camp, kids ages 8-13 year old will make a fleece blanket, a fleece hat, and mittens! Finally, in “All About Cupcakes” kids (ages 6-10 years old) will make squishy, soft cupcakes as well as a cupcake stuffie, headband and magnet! Katonah Art Center (Mount Kisco)
This popular art studio is offering a Pottery Wheel Day Camp for Kids from December 28th-December 30th from 9:30am-12:30pm; Slime Camp on December 28th and December 29th from 1:00-4:00 pm; and Cartooning Camp on December 28th from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Roam Further (Mount Kisco)
Kid ages 6-13 years old can enjoy a holiday break camp by learning some new parkour skills. Camps start with an obstacle-course warm-up into station-based rotations. This includes the use of bars, floor, climbing, trampoline, airbag, and a blend of all of these skills. The camp has a half-day option from 9:30am-12:00pm and a full-day option from 9:30am- 2:00pm. The Rock Club Mini Camp (New Rochelle)
Have your kids moving and climbing over break at The Rock Club. They are offering kids ages 6-10 a super fun way to stay moving and active over break! Sessions costs $375 for a full week of half day sessions or $75 for individual session signups. You can also pick 9:00am-12:15pm, or 12:45pm-4:00pm. New Rochelle Racquet Club (New Rochelle)

Chris Ward Basketball Camp (Yorktown Heights)
Former college basketball coach, Chris Ward and his team leads this academy-style skill clinic. The camp focuses on developing your child’s skills in shooting, ball handling, footwork, on/off the ball moves, and player awareness. Campers can join for one day or more days from 9:00am-12:00pm. Club Fit (Briarcliff Manor and Jefferson Manor)
Both Club Fit locations offer a School’s Out Camp. The camp is designed for kids ages 5-12 years old and runs from 8:00am-4:00pm. Late pick-up until 6:00pm is also avaiable for an additional fee. Campers enjoy a full-day of activities, such as basketball, kickball, pillow hockey, soccer, swimming, tennis, arts & crafts and more. Rates vary per location. Kids ages 3–5 and 6–12 will enjoy recreational activities, such as tennis, swimming, games, arts & crafts, Yoga, Zumba, and various sports. Kids should bring a bathing suit and cap and they can order lunches through the restaurant or pack a lunch. Teatown Holidaze Mini Camp (Ossining)
Teatown offers a fantastic mini camp with a focus on nature for kids in three age groups. Kids are broken into groups called froglets (age 4-5); owlets (age 6-7); and rangers (age 8-13). Campers will learn about the wonders of winter by exploring Teatown’s various habitats along with playing games and constructing crafts. Many camp activities will take place outside, so please dress your child appropriately for prolonged outdoor activity in winter weather. Full day campers should pack a lunch and snack. School’s Out/Art’s In Winter 2022 at the Katonah Museum of Art (Katonah)
Kids ages 3-8 and ages 9-12 can enjoy a week of art making at the Katonah Museum of Art. Workshops are offered from Tuesday-Friday at 10:00am, 11:30am, and 1:00pm. Classes include collage book, bookmark characters, pop-up books, and framed character painting. Sign up for one or all four classes.
