What's New (Jun. 2012)

Havana Central Yonkers

The first Havana Central opened 10 years ago in New York’s Union Square neighborhood. Yet there’s no need to head into the city now to enjoy the popular Cuban cuisine because Havana Central Yonkers has opened at Ridge Hill Shopping Center at 1 Ridge Hill Blvd., right next to the Showcase Cinema De Lux.

Besides the festive ambiance and authentic Cuban comfort food, Havana Central Yonkers also offers their signature mojito and live Latin music. The 235-seat restaurant is open Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.; Friday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Stop by and step back in time to capture the 1950s golden era of Cuba. 423-5500. www.HavanaCentral.com.

Go Figure

There’s nothing like the threat of wearing a swimsuit to make you want to exercise. If you’re looking for something different consider The Figure Method, a hybrid exercise regimen, which has a new location in Scarsdale, as well other studios in Armonk and Rye and in New Canaan, Darien and Westport, Conn.

The brainchild of Cindy Sites, a dancer and former Lotte Berk-trained instructor, Go Figure classes feature methods from various disciplines including Lotte Berk, Pilates, dance and yoga. This barre-based program shapes muscles through slow challenging movements and stretches them for flexibility and range of motion. Participants work continuously throughout the 60-minute class providing plenty of toning time. For more information and a schedule of classes visit www.gofigurestudio.com.
