Registration Open for Westchester County’s Nature Camps

Camp is on everyone’s mind this time of year. Westchester County offers many affordable and fun nature camps for kids entering pre-K to grade 9. Campers will enjoy access to Westchester’s parks and nature preserve as well as learn different theme every week related to nature. Some topics include include habitats, sea life, forests, animals, insects, plants and much more.

Camps locations include Cranberry Lake Preserve, Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary, Lenoir Preserve, Marshlands Conservancy, and Trailside Nature Museum.  Programs are offered from Monday, July 10th-Friday, August 18th from 9:00am-3:00pm for grades 1-9 and from  9:00am-11:45am for pre-k.  Read on to learn more about each camp and how to register.

Westchester County’s Nature Camps Details:

– The Cranberry Nature Camp at the Cranberry Lake Preserve, North White Plains

This camp focuses on mammals, habitats and more. Located on the 200-acre nature preserve, kids will also enjoy access to the beautiful forest, cliffs, and wetlands  $350 per week for residents, $400 per week for non-Westchester residents, or $750 per two-weeks for Westchester County and non-Westchester residents.

– Read Nature Camp at the Edith G. Read Wildlife Sanctuary, Rye NY

Campers at Read Nature Camp will spend time gathering seashells, building forts from bamboo stalks, catching crabs, and more. $350 per week for residents or $400 per week for non-Westchester residents.

– Lenoir Nature Camp at the Lenoir Preserve, Yonkers

Children entering grades 1-6 will explore the earth at this interactive nature camp. They will also enjoy arts and crafts, nature study, outdoor skills, Native American folklore, and games. $350 per week for residents or $400 per week for non-Westchester residents.

– Marshlands Nature Camp at the Marshlands Conservancy, Rye

Campers will take structured, topic-oriented “expeditions” as they explore the world of insects, plants, mammals, salt-marsh life and many other topics while keeping record of their discoveries in their own field journals! $350 per week for residents or $400 per week for non-Westchester residents.

– Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation, Cross River

Kids will learn more about archaeological sites, crayfish catching, nature games, art and much more. $175 per week for residents and non-Westchester residents (for Pre-K) and $350 per week for non-Westchester residents: $400 per week.
