Alliance Française of Westchester is the best place for children and teens to learn French in Westchester County. After-school classes are available all year round, and immersive camps provide a great opportunity for children to learn the language with native speakers during school breaks. Lessons are available in-person in AFW’s brand new offices. Children as young as 6 months old can be exposed to a bilingual environment through lessons designed specifically for little ones and their caregivers. Groups are always fairly small to give children more opportunities to practice their speaking skills. For families who cannot attend in-person lessons in White Plains or Mamaroneck, other flexible options are available either online or in-person. As bilingualism is proven to have a positive impact on the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills, French is a great option for children and teens who want to pursue an ambitious academic path in the future. Don’t worry; it doesn’t mean the language is challenging to learn! The key is starting early, participating in a rigorous program, and enjoying it.
