It’s around this time of year when we are all start to feel the slump of the never-ending cold days. In Westchester, this has been a mix of snow days, rain, and icing mornings. To break up the winter dull-drums, we recently took a drive to nearby Stamford to visit RPM Raceway.

Here, we enjoyed a packed day of adrenaline-pumping adventures and non-stop fun. Read on to discover more about how RPM Raceway serves up the perfect mix of fun activities to do this winter – and beyond.

Go-Karting

During our experience at RPM Raceway, my kids enjoyed our first time go-karting. This included an experience zipping around their European-style tracks in open-aired race cars. Their raceway gives kids (and adults) a taste of high-speed go karting. My kids (ages 12 and 9) were grouped with other kids their age for a milder race. Once we arrived, we watched a safety video and then the kids were suited up with protective helmets.

Once inside the go-karts, they had a chance to test out pedals and stop-and-go motions before they were off. Inside the track, the kids zipped around at their leisure. While speeding is a fun part of the experience, kids can also go slow and take it simple, depending on their comfort level.

They also offer group racing for parties of eight or more. This interactive option allows families and friends to both ride and compete together. Additionally, they offer riding lessons and have leagues where you and your kids can consistently race.

For racing, non-licensed drivers must be at least 4″10 and 13 years old and junior drivers must be at least 4″ tall at least six years old. Additionally, the Stamford track has two 1/4 mile long tracks with hairpin turns.

Additionally, they have an ultimate summer racing camp where juniors (8-12 years of age) and youth (13-16 years of age  can learn how to improve their speed and master laps. This camp runs for four days and kids have to be at least eight years old.

Bowling

After go-karting, you and your family can also enjoy bowling. They also have gutter bowling and neon bowling that can be played in between go-karting and/or as s stand-alone activity.

Gaming and VR

The kids and I also had the best time at RPM Raceway by enjoying VR. The virtual realty experiences at RPM included a range of options to pick from where we opted to battle zombies. After that experience, the kids had the best time exploring the arcade. Here, you’ll find 150+ arcade games. From basketball to Mario Bros to claw games to pinball, you’ll find tons of games and challenges for every literally level and ability.

After each game, cards are loaded up where kids can win points for prizes. These cards can also be saved for the future should you want to save them and use them another time.

Food

After a packed day of indoor fun, I loved that there was a food court/bar in the location. Here, you could find a range of kid-friendly options such as burgers, pizza, tacos, salads, and more. Adults can also enjoy craft cocktails and beer from their bar that you can enjoy in-between gaming.

While the winter is long, it’s nice to have some indoor activity places where you can take the kids. At RPM Raceway, this includes world-class racing, immersive gaming options,  tasty eats, and so much more.
