Kids Week at the Intrepid Museum

Staying local for February break? One idea you should add to your radar is a visit to NYC to check out Kids Week at the Intrepid Museum! Held from February 18th-February 25th, Kids Week features a packed line-up of STEAM programs, activities, NASA displays & exhibits, live animal shows, hands-on workshops, performances, special guests and interactive demonstrations for kids of all ages.

Some highlights include visits from local partners such as Zack and Zoey Adventures, the Blue Man Group, DogMan the Musical, Gazillion Bubble Show, LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester, The Climate Museum, Ballet Hispánico School of Dance, The Learning Experience- Hells Kitchen, a book nook from Brooklyn Book Bodega, The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show, Wildlife Conservation Society, Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, and the Beardsley Zoo, to name a few.

Kids will able to participate in interactive activities in the Intrepid Museum Education Maker Zone. Some activities include art by camouflaging a plane, creating a lunar lander that safely delivers miniature astronauts on the moon, building a space capsule, designing a space suit, designing a constellation, and much more!

Families will also enjoy their roster of educational programming during Kids Week. This includes learning about the importance of the Earth’s atmosphere and the need to wear spacesuits, understanding what goes into launching a space shuttle, exploring the science behind aviation, and much more. Scientists, astronauts, and engineers from different NASA divisions will also be in attendance, talking about missions they are working on.
