Looking for a fun, challenging, and stimulating  sport for your kids? Hockey just might be right for your family. Offering a way to master a range of skills, hockey also focuses on helping kid work in a team as well as to develop their stick-handling, shooting, and positioning skills. Hockey lessons for kids generally start at age five where they will learn skating and stick basics. Over time, this can expand where your child can play on a team. To get you started, we are sharing a list of places to take hockey lessons throughout Westchester.

Brewster Ice Arena (Brewster)

The Brewster Ice Arena offers a range of programs for kids. This includes developmental leagues, holiday clinics, summer camps, and teams. This includes the opportunity to play on the Westchester Express, Lady Bulldogs, and Brewster Apple Core youth hockey organizations. The developmental program runs from September-November and November-March where kids can learn and develop fundamental hockey skills. Additional programs, through the Junior Rangers, includes Learn To Play (ages 5-9); Rookie League (ages 10 and under); and the Girls League (10U and 14U). 63 Fields Ln, Brewster, NY 10509.

Hommocks Park Ice Rink (Larchmont)

The hockey program at Hommocks Park Ice Rink includes the development of station-based skills. Kids will learn skating fundamentals and the basics of hockey that is both challenging and stimulating. Additionally, the program focuses on hockey as a team sport and how kids can work together to achieve a goal. Various programs include a stick time clinic and hockey house lessons for kids ages 5-17 years old. The full-season for lessons runs from November-March. Pelham Youth Hockey (Pelham)

A not-for-profit USA Hockey Tier two-youth hockey program, Pelham Youth Hockey offers programs for beginners to competitive players. Programs run from September-mid-March where kids basics of hockey as well as the hard work, team work and sportsmanship. Additionally, all kids should take their learn to play program where they can develop basic skills before they move on to play on a team. Rye Rangers Hockey Club

This hockey club offers a range of lessons for kids learning to play (starting at five years old) to competitive players. Students play out of Rye Country Day School’s LaGrange Field House, Playland Ice Casino, and Westchester Skating Academy where they practice and master their hockey skills two-three times a week.

Playland Ice (Rye)

PlayLand Ice offers many ways for kids to develop and enhance their hockey skills. This includes sticktime lessons for 60-90 minutes. 1 Playland Pkwy, Rye, NY 10580

Westchester Skating Academy (Elmsford)

Westchester Skating Academy offers a wide-range of hockey lessons and programs for kids. This includes programs for beginners (ages 4-7) to advanced skaters. The Mini Mite program (ages 4-7) focuses on lessons and skill-building; while Hockey I and Hockey II lessons introduce skaters to basic skating skills (no equipment required). Additionally, Hockey 3, is a full equipment clinic. Here, kids learn all about the game including stick-handling, shooting, positioning and team play. In addition, they have a fun half-day and full-day holiday break camp where kids can further master their hockey skills such as handling the stick and shooting.  91 Fairview Park Dr, Elmsford, NY 10523.

Westchester Warriors Youth Hockey (Yonkers)

This youth hockey league is on a mission to support and raise funds for the Maria Fareri Pediatric Cancer Hospital. The season runs from April-August where each family is committed to assist their player to achieve a minimum donation of $500.
