The Best Meal Kits for Westchester Families

Hello Fresh offers a large variety of flexible, modern meals for those who don’t mind some prepping and cooking. Ingredients are fresh (and thus take a little more time to prepare), but they lead to delicious dinners like pulled-chicken tacos, crunchy curried chickpea bowl and poblano flautas. Portions are generous for a family and many meals provide enough for lunch the next day.

Blue Apron arrives with more prepped ingredients so the recipes take less time to cook, and busy parents can choose the “Easy Prep and Cleanup” meals or the “Heat & Eat” meals that are ready in under five minutes. There’s a rotating menu, with healthy weekly options like chimichurri shrimp and panko-crusted cod that feed two to six people. And don’t forget to add a paired wine to your cart!

Marley Spoon, by Martha Stewart, is ideal for quick dinners and lets families plan ahead with over 40 different weekly menus. The family-friendly option includes easy-to-cook and kid-approved meals like cheesy turkey meatloaf and chicken parmesan fingers for two or four people, up to six times per week

Yumble is just for kids, including picky eaters — for those nights when you cook something delicious that your kids won’t touch (and instead cry, sulk and crawl under the table.) This subscription sends heat-and-eat meals like cheesy pasta, chicken nuggets and French toast bites to your door so you can preempt the meltdown.

Everyplate is a cost-friendly choice for families who want to eat good food without paying too much for it. Choose from eight easy meal kit recipes, which feature comfort food like burgers, quesadillas, pasta and sandwiches. Their FamilyPlate plan specializes in quick, kid-approved dinners.

Home Chef offers 38 meal kits every week, including oven-ready meals and one-pan dinners that you can customize by swapping the protein or doubling the portion. Order antibiotic-free protein or add plant-based meats in recipes like chipotle chimichurri mini pork meatloaves with roasted sweet potatoes. There are even oven-ready meals that come with the cooking tray (read: no dishes) to make evenings a little easier.

Ipsa Provisions, backed by chef Tom Colicchio, isn’t exactly a meal-kit service. Instead, they deliver frozen meals (only to Westchester and parts of NYC) made with ethically sourced produce from farms around the country. The meals are impressive but kid-friendly, with choices like corn chowder with blackened shrimp or beef and kimchi stew. Stash them in the freezer for another night or reheat for dinner tonight.

TopChef Meals sends over customizable, prepared meals (to Westchester on Mondays and Wednesdays), no commitment required. Choose from over 75 meals, like arroz con camarones and burnt ends brisket, that will reheat in less than three minutes. You can also pick up your meal in Elmsford any day of the week.

Cooking-weary parents should take note of these options. Order a meal kit for the week, or just reach out to one of these excellent Westchester restaurants that deliver family-style meals. Then relax and let someone else set the table.
