Hudson River Museum

Visit the Hudson River Museum with your kids to enjoy their current exhibitions, attend programs, enjoy planetarium shows and tours of Glenview.

During the week of winter break, there are also several events such as Traditional Lion Dance, Family Art Workshop:  Posters, Family Science Workshop: Leap into Moon Science, Family Art Workshop: Shining Legends, The Girl Who Walked Upside Down, and much more!

They also have a special School’s Out, Stars Are In event where families can watch free planetarium shows under the dome, engage in interactive art and science workshops, enjoy gallery events, and hear pop-up storytimes in the HRM book nook. Westchester Children’s Museum

Spend the day at the Westchester Children’s Museum and enjoy their  interactive learning space and roster of programs. During the February break, families can enjoy a full weekend of love-themed activities, crafts, and stories from February 18-21; Museum Minis on February 22nd; and Story Time on February 25th and 26th. Katonah Art Museum

Enjoy the Young Artists 2023, featuring the art work of high school seniors from public and private schools. This free exhibit includes the work of 400 senior student artworks, ranging in scale, concept, media and process. You can also visit during the week to enjoy the Museum’s other exhibits such as Thinking Through the Arts and Jungle Fool. Katonah Art Museum, 134 Jay St, Katonah, NY 10536

Stamford Museum and Nature Center

Take a trip to nearby Stamford for a fun day in nature at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. Special events include Family Astronomy Night on February 24th with sky viewing (weather dependent), crafts, activities, and more! Other special events include First County Bank Maple Sugar Fest Sunday on February 26th and February Vacation Drop-Off Day where you can drop off your kids (ages 5-9) to enjoy a morning with the Museum’s environmental educators and different activities.  Stamford Museum and Nature Center, 39 Scofieldtown Rd, Stamford, CT 06903

Make Slime

Spend a day at D.I.Y Slime where you kids can make their own gooey creations. Kids can also customize their slime with over 100+ add-ins and personal the type of ! For February Break, they have drop in sessions on Mon (2/20), Wed (2/22) & Fri (2/24) from 12:00pm-4:00pm. Bowling

Climbing

Local Libraries

The Westchester Public Library system is a source for some incredible local events. Over February break, visit another town/library to explore some activities right in your backyard. Some programming during February break includes Tuesday Train Time at the Harrison Library; the Indoor Sidewalk Chalk Party at the Larchmont Library; Mother Goose Storytime at the North Castle Public Library; All Ages Stories at the Pound Ridge Library; Crafts at the Mount Kisco Library, and much more!

See a Show

Enjoy a day in the city by checking out a show with your kids. Some ideas include catching “Hip Hop Cinderella” at the New Victory Theater (209 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036). Check out this reimagined version of the classic story where kids will meet Cinderella and her jealous stepmother and  selfish stepsisters — in space. With melodic rapping, movement, and fun, “Hip Hop Cinderella” teleports the classic across the cosmos and reminds us to reach for the farthest moon. 

Princess Phooey

You can also see “Princess Phooey,” showing from now until February 26, 2023 at TADA! Youth Theater (15 West 28th Street, 2nd Floor Theater between Broadway and 5th Avenue). Princess Phooey, an original musical, is not your typical fairy tale, and Phooey is not your typical princess. She doesn’t want to curtsy, smile, or be rescued by a Prince (although he tries), because she can rescue herself, if need be, and she would rather run around with the chambermaids and the stable boys. Her older sister Elessia, along with the Good Fairies, try to make Phooey into what they consider a proper princess, while Morbidia has other plans for them all. Princess Phooey book and lyrics are by Lisa Diana Shapiro with music by Eric Rockwell.
