See a Show
Enjoy a day in the city by checking out a show with your kids. Some ideas include catching “Hip Hop Cinderella” at the New Victory Theater (209 W 42nd St, New York, NY 10036). Check out this reimagined version of the classic story where kids will meet Cinderella and her jealous stepmother and selfish stepsisters — in space. With melodic rapping, movement, and fun, “Hip Hop Cinderella” teleports the classic across the cosmos and reminds us to reach for the farthest moon.
You can also see “Princess Phooey,” showing from now until February 26, 2023 at TADA! Youth Theater (15 West 28th Street, 2nd Floor Theater between Broadway and 5th Avenue). Princess Phooey, an original musical, is not your typical fairy tale, and Phooey is not your typical princess. She doesn’t want to curtsy, smile, or be rescued by a Prince (although he tries), because she can rescue herself, if need be, and she would rather run around with the chambermaids and the stable boys. Her older sister Elessia, along with the Good Fairies, try to make Phooey into what they consider a proper princess, while Morbidia has other plans for them all. Princess Phooey book and lyrics are by Lisa Diana Shapiro with music by Eric Rockwell.
