Cross County Center Celebrates 70 Years

Cross County

Seventy years ago, Cross County Center revolutionized the retail landscape, opening as the nation’s first and only open-air shopping destination. Originally housing approximately 30 stores, the center has expanded to nearly 100 stores and restaurants across multiple buildings including Target, Macy’s, Zara, H&M, Pandora, Starbucks, Shake Shack, Hyatt Place Hotel and more. Children’s play areas, free parking and seasonal events draw more than 14 million visitors and guests to the outdoor center, year-round.

Cross County Center has been a beacon of innovation and remarkable growth since its inception. From the opening of the iconic John Wanamaker department store to the arrival of Gimbels, the center quickly established itself as a premier retail destination, effectively cementing Yonkers position as a thriving community hub in the larger Tri-State region.

There’s so much to enjoy with each visit! Cross County Center has attracted many of the top names in retail and dining including the first Shake Shack and Zara in the county as well as a growing SUNY Westchester Community College location. Other favorites include Michael Kors, Longhorn Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Starbucks, Pandora, Ulta Beauty and more.

Located in Yonkers, just minutes from The Bronx and Manhattan, Cross County Center is THE destination for all things shopping and entertainment. The 1,150,000-square-foot outdoor lifestyle center is located at the intersection of Cross County Parkway and I-87, attracting visitors annually from New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Enjoy FREE year-round parking.
