Maple sugaring season is here. You and your family can make the most of this deliciously sweet season by attending one of the many maple sugaring events in Westchester. These programs are fantastic educational outings as kids learn about the tapping process, watch sap boiling demonstrations, and of course sample maple syrup. Maple Sugaring at Muscoot (Katonah)

This farm offers a roster of maple sugaring events for families from January-March. This includes a backyard sugaring workshop (Saturday, January 6th., 2024 at 1:00pm and 2:00pm and Sunday, January 7th., 2024 at 1:00pm and 2:00pm) where families will learn how to find the trees to tap in their own backyard. Additionally, they have a tree tapping workshop (Saturday, January 20th., 2024 at 12:00pm, 12:45pm, 1:30pm, and 2:15pm and Sunday, January 21st., 2024 at 12:00pm, 12:45pm, 1:30pm, and 2:15pm) where participants will learn about the tapping process of maple sugaring while using the farm’s antique tools.

Families will also love Maple Munchies where kids (over age six) will learn more ways about how maple syrup is used in the kitchen while cooking up a maple-themed culinary treat. Additionally, enjoy their annual Muscoot Farm’s Pancake Breakfast (Sunday, March 10th., 2024 at 11:00am – 2:00pm) for a feast of pancakes and delicious house-made syrup. Maple Sugaring Party (Scarsdale)

The Greenburgh Nature Center is hosting a fun maple sugaring party. During the event, families will watch live evaporation demos as they learn more about how maple syrup is made. This includes the opportunity to taste sap that is tapped straight from the trees. Additionally, families can watch sap boiling demonstrations in their Native American sites. Additional activities include storytelling, crafts, and sampling of snacks. This maple sugar event is held on Sunday, March 3rd from 10:00am- 3:00pm. Maple Sugaring Demonstration (Mount Kisco)

Enjoy a maple sugaring demo at Westmoreland Sanctuary.  This includes a colonial maple-sugaring demonstration where families can learn about dendrology and the life cycles of maple trees. Additionally, families will have the chance to use colonial maple sugaring tools. Finally, they can compare the tastes of raw maple sap, artificial syrup, and authentic maple syrup. Held on Saturday, March 18th from 11:30am-12:30pm. This event is suitable for all ages. Family Tapping Experience (Cross River)

Enjoy a family tapping experience at the Trailside Nature Museum. This includes a one-on-one tapping experience for 30-minutes. Tickets are $20 for a family of four. Additionally, you can add-on for up to two additional members for an additional $5. Held on January 20th and January 27th at 10:00am. 6 Reservation Road, Cross River, NY 10518.

Family Maple Tapping (Yonkers)

Families will learn more about maple sugaring is made at this educational event. Held on February 17th and February 18th (both at 10:30am), the event includes a tree tapping and a taste test. Lenoir Preserve, 19 Dudley Street, Yonkers, NY 10701

Maple Sugar Tours (Cornwall)
Saturdays and Sundays: Saturdays and Sundays, February: 3 & *4, 10 & 11, 17 & 18, 24 & 25, March 2 & 3. Tours happen hourly from 11:00am-3:00pm: Sugar Bush Tours 11am, 1pm & 2pm, and Maple Lane Tours at 12pm & 3pm

Families can enjoy a maple sugar tours at Hudson Highlands Nature Center in February and March. During the event, families will learn how to identify and tap trees, discover sugaring techniques, and see an evaporator. Plus, enjoy tasting maple syrup.
