You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! Summer means it’s time to celebrate this cool, creamy treat. Stop by these local ice cream shops and turn getting your indulgence into a family outing.

Culinary Institute-trained Chef Ellen Sledge, serves up homemade ice cream featuring old-fashioned fresh ingredients: heavy cream, cream-lined whole milk, eggs and sugar. The ice cream is available in pints, cups, push-up pops (great for kids), sandwiches and cakes. There are the classic flavors, plus seasonal favorites including Drunken Pumpkin, Blackberry Mint, Roasted Strawberry and their popular Ethiopian Macchiato. The Original

Longford’s has been producing small batch, all natural homemade ice cream for 25 years. They offer more than 60 flavors plus some 30 types of sorbet and gelato. Other ingredients such as Oreos, Girl Scout cookies, M&Ms and peanut butter cups are used to create specialty flavors. Thry their new flavor, Mango Ice Cream with fresh chuncks of mango! You’ll find the product at country clubs, scoop shops, restaurants and hotels, but why not stop by their quaint retail establishment in Rye. Who knew Penn State had an Ice Cream Course? The owners of The Ice Cream Parlour & Confectionary for one, because they are graduates.
