Real Estate Meets Philanthropy Help Expand Maria Fareri Hospital

Two years ago, Kerry Fedigan-Cid and her husband Steve Cid rushed their daughter to the Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at the Westchester Medical Center following a horrible bicycle accident. The expert and passionate care their daughter received inspired this dynamic husband-wife team of real estate agents to take action and help support Maria Fareri in a revolutionary way.

The Giving House program is designed to combine real estate and philanthropy, something the Cids had always discussed. How does it work? Simply visit the website, www.givinghouse.org, to contact a participating real estate agent in the area. A member of this “all star team,” as Steve Cid calls them, of real estate agents will work tirelessly to buy, sell, or rent on your behalf. Giving House encompasses 70 agents from all major firms. When the transaction is complete, the agent will donate 20 percent of their commission to a not-for-profit or other asset to the community, like a children’s hospital.

The Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital has earmarked donations from this program to fund a new sports-themed neighborhood that will house up to 450 more patients. The hospital reaches about 3.5 million people, so the community at large will benefit from Giving House’s generous donation and from having such a valuable resource in the area.

Participating in Giving House is a “super simple and very meaningful” way to give. For more information and to get involved, see www.givinghouse.org.
