Out & About (May 2012)

Music Conservatory of Westchester

Music Conservatory of Westchester’s Music Therapy Institute (MTI) recently celebrated its 25th year with WinterBOWL, a fundraiser hosted by Grand Prix New York. The event included live music from MTI students as well as pop star Tiffany Giardina (Disney, Mattel, Barbie). Proceeds from the event go toward scholarships for music therapy students. Music Conservatory of Westchester, Music Therapy Institute, 216 Central Ave., White Plains. 761-3900. www.musicconservatory.org

Junior League Diaper Drive

The Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) recently donated some 55,000 diapers to Family Services of Westchester through local donations and a partnership with Kimberly-Clark’s HUGGIES® Every Little Bottom program. The JLCW began this drive in 2011 to raise awareness about how the high cost of diapers is having a negative impact on families. In many instances the “diaper need” has forced some local families to cut back on food, utilities and childcare. Because of the size of the donation, diapers are being stored and distributed out of The Sharing Shelf’s warehouse, FSW’s program for collecting and distributing gently used clothing for Westchester children and youth. JLCW, Wayside Cottage, 1039 Post Road, Scarsdale. 723-6130. www.JLCentralWestchester.org
