What’s New?

It’s January, the start of a new year and most likely some new adventures for you and your family. That’s what’s so amazing about parenting, children change so rapidly that everyday is practically a new year!

Some changes are simple and small while others can be a little trickier. If this year is going to be your child’s first time at sleepaway camp we have some advice on how to handle that transition. This month, writer Jan Udlock shares what she has learned as she mothered five children through the first-time-away-at-camp stage. Saying she speaks from experience is an understatement. Read her article and become instantly wise.

Be sure to also read about our family visit to Greenburgh Nature Center. Maybe you think you know all about this wonderful Scarsdale venue, but there are some new features at the center that you won’t want to miss.

And just in case you need a little encouragement (who doesn’t this time of year) read “Setting Yourself Up for Success,” a hard look at how rethinking your New Year resolutions can make all the difference between success and failure.

Speaking of new, we begin 2013 with some exciting news. Westchester Family has been purchased by Hibert Publishing LLC, a company recently formed by Gary Hibert, the former Vice President of Dominion Parenting Media. For more than 13 years Gary oversaw the operations of Westchester Family and Dominion’s other parenting titles and in the 1980s he founded For Rent Magazine and Advanced Distribution. After more than 30 years in publishing, Gary, and his wife Tracy are thrilled to start out on this new adventure with Westchester Family, making it truly “family owned.” The staff, which will remain the same, is proud to have Gary and Tracy as new owners!

Happy New Year!
