Applications for Entertainers Available

State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel J. Aubertine today announced that applications are now available for entertainers, including jugglers, singers, dancers and more, to participate in the 2013 Great New York State Fair.

The applications are divided into two forms, one for music and one for grounds entertainment, so performers can select the best venue for their special talents. Which venue will be the beginning of your fast track to stardom?  Find more information and the application on the Fair’s website.

On the musical entertainment application, the first option is the new Midway Music Series. This series brought nine nights of free music to the Talent Showcase Stage in 2012. This series features national and regional touring acts such as Tyler Hilton, The Downtown Fiction, Outasight and Dark Hollow.

Gospel Weekend kicks off the first weekend of the Fair, and features musical acts with an inspirational message.

Are you a local singer or performer? Then the Regional Artists Variety Stage is for you! This stage features some of New York State’s best undiscovered talent and hosts performances all day throughout all 12 days of the Fair.

The 6 o’clock parade is a timeless tradition at the New York State Fair. Marching bands and entertainers travel the perimeter of Chevy Court every day to be seen by hundreds of thousands of Fairgoers.

The Pan African Village is a favorite among fairgoers, and features a wide variety of culturally-inspired music, literature readings and theatrical performances.

If you’re interested in bringing your attraction or show to the Fair, be sure to fill out the Grounds Entertainment application. From the German juggler Hilby to the one man band Bandaloni, many of these shows are among the must-sees for Fairgoers. This year, the Fair is looking for applicants in categories such as variety, animal, strolling, children’s, sand sculpture, sports, and more.

Applications will be reviewed on a continuing basis starting December 20, 2012. Selected entertainers will be notified in the months leading up to the Fair. Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of New York’s largest annual event.

The 2013 Fair will run from Aug. 22 to Sept. 2.
