Golf Lessons for Kids in Westchester

Back-to-school season is right around the corner. As you’re getting back-to-school supplies and organizing schedules, you may also start to be thinking about sports and sporting lessons for your kids. Over the next couple of weeks, we’re going to be sharing the many sporting options in Westchester, starting with golf. Check out more below on where your kids can learn some new skills, build their confidence, and have fun as they learn how to golf.

Metropolitan Golf Associate – Youth on the Course

This partnership provides provide programming to junior golfers ages six-18. Through this program, they can play for $5 per round (or less) at more than 30  courses in the area. There is a $20 membership fee to join.

Kevin Chin Golf Instruction (Eastchester)

Golfing lessons are offered for ages 6-9 and 10-15 for 65-minutes. They also offer lessons for ages 9-13 years old for 105 minutes. This includes classes offered every day at the Lake Isle Country Club.

Note: since the classes are held at a county club, no jeans, no t-shirts, and no open-toed shoes are permitted. Classes start on September 12th. Game on Golf Center (White Plains)

Young golfers can take a one-hour advanced junior golf clinic. The eight-week after-school clinic is offered at 3:45pm (ages 6-9); at 4:50pm (ages 9-12) and at 6:00pm (ages 12+). 701 Dobbs Ferry Road, White Plains, NY 10607.

PGA Metropolitan Section (Briarcliff Manor)

This league is for boys and girls, offering participation in the PGA Jr. League. The program is for golfers ages 17 and under where they will learn golfing skills from expert coaches. Classes start on September 1st-October 13th and cost $499 per golfer. 100 Shadow Tree Lane, Briarcliff Manor NY 10510.

First Tee – Metropolitan New York (Mosholu Golf Course, Dobbs Ferry, and Chelsea Piers)

This organization provides golf education and lessons to pre-k students t0 high schoolers.  The program builds kids’ inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience. 3545 Jerome Avenue, Bronx, NY, 10467.

TGA of Northern Westchester (Cortland Manor or New Rochelle)

Take indoor golf this winter at the Back Nine in Cortland Manor or in New Rochelle. The program offers a 10:1 ration where students learn a variety of golfing skills.

This includes station-based drills and games that develop the fundamental skills of grip, putting, chipping and full-swing. There are also STEAM labs where students can learn gravity, force, and spin. Skill levels are devised by color to determine placement and progression.

LPGA-USGA Girls Golf of Rockland/Westchester (Scarsdale, North Salem, and Suffern)

This organization provides girls ages 7-17 years affordable access to golf. Locations in Westchester and Rockland include the Scarsdale Golf Club, the Pehquenakonk Country Club in North Salem, and the Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern. Girls To The Tee (Rye)

This organization offers free golf clinics for girls (ages 6 to 18 years old). This program happens over the summer and is taught by local PGA golf professionals, such as Westchester host pros Gary Weir, Monique Thoresz, and Jenny Sullivan.
