Can you believe it’s almost Labor Day weekend?! Even though this is the traditional marker of the end of the summer, there’s still plenty of warm days ahead. As we get ready for back-to-school, we are excited to share some fun ways to make the most of this long weekend. You’ll find a corn-themed event, an African cultural celebration, live music, and more. And of course, you can always hit up one of Westchester’s beaches or pools to cool down this weekend.

Labor Day Caribbean Weekend

Wakanda African Celebration

Join Luangisa African Museum & Cultural Arts and the Wakanda Celebration for Wakanda 5! Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a plethora of activities centered around Africa such their wearable art African fashion show, cuisine of Africa, live music, kids’ activities and rides. Uncle Shoehorn’s Funky Corn Festival

Enjoy a fun family day at the Wright Family Farm for all this corn. This includes corn mazes, food trucks, corn treats, vendors, a cornhole game, a cow train, local craft beer, pumpkins, and four live bands, including the Uncle Shoehorn Funky Dance Party. 2022 Arts & Crafts Hudson River Festival

Enjoy a celebration of arts and crafts at the annual outdoor Hudson River Arts & Crafts Festival. Location on Croton’s Senasqua Park, you can check out jewelry, pottery, sculpture, paintings, photographs, books, embroidery, woodworking, multimedia artworks, gnomes, and more. It’s a Scavenger Hunt!

Participate in a family scavenger hunt in Yonkers. This smartphone guided event will take you and your kids around the Cross County Center where you have to fill a virtual scavenger sack. Wildflower Walk at the Trailside Nature Museum

Family Adventure Tour –  Vista to Ruin

Learn more about the incredible Vista and old color gardens. This tour will teach your kids the ancient Roman columns,  geometric shapes of the new Ornamental Vegetable Garden, and the Ruin Garden. This includes learning more about its hidden alley, secret grotto, graffiti covered walls, and restored unicorn. Songs for Labor Day: Workers’ Struggles, Organizing, and Unions
