How to Support #GivingTuesday in Westchester

There are many ways to support local organizations in Westchester. One such way that you and your family can give back is via #GivingTuesday in Westchester. Read on to check out a list of local non-profit organizations who are seeking funding, volunteers, and specific efforts around the holiday season.

914 Cares

Support 914 Cares this Giving Tuesday via their 914Cares Diaper Drive, 914Cares Period Supplies Drive, and/or 914Cares Clothing Drive by donating fall and winter clothing and baby clothing! They also accept one-time and on-going monetary donations to ensure that those in need are cared for.

Child Care Council of Westchester, Inc.

Donate to the Child Care Council of Westchester, Inc to support early care and education. This supports book lending programs for children, privately-funded scholarships, enhanced training and professional development opportunities for child care professionals, and more.

Habitat for Humanity Westchester

Participate in Habitat for Humanity of New York City and Westchester’s Giving Tuesday 2022 Matching Gift Campaign. The campaign is held until November 30th whose funds will help create affordable housing and generational, equity-building homeownership opportunities for low- to moderate-income New Yorkers.

Feeding Westchester

Support Feeding Westchester this Giving Tuesday and their mission to nourish Westchester community members in the fight against hunger. You can donate funds to help them to stock their shelves, start a fundraiser, or volunteer your time.

Lifting Up Westchester

Lifting Up Westchester

Lifting Up Westchester is accepting Holiday Lift donations from the first week of November-December. This includes Holiday Grocery Bags, purchasing items from their Amazon Wish List, decorating and stuffing stockings, organizing a new hat, scarves and gloves collection, or being a holiday helper. You can also donate funds to help support this organization.

Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley

Support Make a Wish and their wishes/programming for kids with critical illness. Participate as a donor, corporate sponsor, fundraising advocate or volunteer.

WMN Unite

Support WMN Unite, a Westchester-based non-profit organization, whose mission is to help support women by providing financial support for education centered on health, wellness, financial growth and sustainability. As a part of its mission, WMN Unite’s programs offer an affordable pay-what-you-can option. These funds are donations, which support WMN Unite’s programming as well as a charity, based around the theme of the event. Donations start at $10 and can be a one-time donation, or on-going funds. For the holiday season, they are collecting feminine care products and winter essentials.  WMN Unite will station a pick-up in Mt. Kisco if you have donations on November 29th at 12pm. 

The Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley

This organization provides families with critically ill and traumatically injured children an atmosphere of comfort, hope and courage, keeping them close to the care and resources they need. Donations can be one-time or monthly whose funds range to help sponsor families for one night to one month as well as on-going opportunities. For Giving Tuesday, you can also purchase items and supplies from their Amazon Holiday Wishlist.

Giving Tuesday Trail Maintenance at Ridge Road Park

Westchester Parks Foundation seeks volunteers to perform trail maintenance for future use by all-terrain adaptive wheelchairs. This program will allow individuals living with spinal cord injury, amputation, paraplegia, are elderly, or have other disabilities the opportunity to participate in Westchester’s trail system. Giving Tuesday Westchester

Giving Tuesday in Katonah

Support local Katonah businesses and the non-profits they support. This includes a Denim Drive with RubySue, Coat & Cans Drive with Coldwell Banker, and a Coat Drive From the Roots. The Reading Room is also hosting a Giving Tuesday shopping event on Tuesday, September 29th from 5:00pm-8:00pm in support of local charities.

Volunteer New York - Giving Tuesday

Volunteer New York

Make a pledge to support of local volunteerism by November 10th and get your choice of their 2022 limited-edition Giving Tuesday hats. Volunteer New York offers tons of ways to give back all year long based on your schedule, age, and interest.

Open Door Family Medical Center

Give back to this non-profit organization whose mission it is to provide high-quality, patient-centered, affordable health care to residents in Westchester, Dutchess, Putnam, and Ulster Counties. Participate by donating funds, or giving back via their Annual Holiday Toy Drive.

NAMI Westchester

Support mental health programming and services from NAMI Westchester. They are currently hosting a Facebook fundraiser where you can donate. You can also donate online, or mail in a check to NAMI Westchester, 100 Clearbrook Road, Elmsford, NY 10523.

Neighbors for Refugees

Neighbors for Refugees is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization started in 2016 in response to the Syrian crisis. Based in Larchmont, the organization is 100% volunteer run and helps refugees acclimate to their new community and attain self-sufficiency. They provide housing and other initial living expenses to new families, grants to enable people to take a step forward in their path to independence ,and provide personal connections between volunteers and the families they are helping.

Wakanda Celebration

Support the Wakanda Celebration, a non-profit whose mission it is to support African art, history, culture, and community in Westcheter. They produce an annual event in Mount Vernon, and all funds donated will go to support the event and their programming.

The Westchester

Visit The Westchester on Giving Tuesday where you can help support and drive donations as you shop. All Giving Tuesday funds on November 25th will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation. Several retailers, including Tory Burch, Burberry, David Yurman, The Lud and Cholomode, will donate a portion of all sales. Additionally, Pandora, Warby Parker, Casper and Yogibo will be making donations to benefit PCF. The Westchester, 125 Westchester Ave, White Plains, NY 10601.

JCC Mid-Westchester Offers Free Programs on Giving Tuesday

Enjoy free programming at the JCC Mid-Westchester this Giving Tuesday.

Free programming includes the following:

  • Fitness center availability: 8:00am to 12noon
  • Little Learners caregiver-and-me class for ages 18-24 months: 9:30 to 11:15am
  • Zumba: 9:30 to 10:30am
  • Adult Program Pass lecture: Scarsdale and the American Revolution: 11am to 1pm
  • Ballet Level 2 for ages 8 years and up with at least 2 years ballet experience: 4:15-5:30pm
  • Introduction to Classical Ballet for ages 6-10 years: 4:30-5:15pm
  • Hip Hop 1 for ages 7-9 years: 5:00-5:45pm
  • Beginner Ballet for Teens for ages 12 years and up: 5:30-6:30pm. On November 29th, JCC Mid-Westchester is also offering a 15 percent discount on its Gymnastics “Stick It to Winter” school break camp to the first five people who sign up. Enrollees will receive an email confirmation of the date of their choice. All other gymnastics registrations will open on Monday, December 5th. JCC Mid-Westchester, 999 Wilmot Road, Scarsdale

Participants can also join in the organization’s community-building efforts by signing up to volunteer, serve as social media ambassadors, or have their donations made that day matched dollar-for-dollar.  Giving Tuesday participants must sign up prior to November 29th.
