4 Things You Didn’t Know About Tennis

Surprise! Here are four things we bet you didn’t know about tennis.

1. Kids can set up a play area just about anywhere! “Tennis sized right” provides constant action to keep your child engaged – and you don’t need to go to a tennis facility or even a court to play. Create a court with chalk lines and a piece of string as a net. Play at home, at the playground, in a gym and on any flat, hard surface. The most important thing is to have fun!

2. Parents don’t need any tennis experience to host a kids’ tennis event. Share a great experience with your child and get active together! Contact Sandy Hoffman with USTA Eastern to learn more at [email protected].

3. With equipment and courts sized for age and level, it’s a great sport for the whole family to play together! Tennis sized right for all ages is a great equalizer; now that tennis has three court sizes and lower bouncing balls, players of varying levels can enjoy the game together. Families will have fun and learn the game faster by playing on a court sized to match their skill set. Like many other sports, tennis can be customized to engage a wider range of players to ensure a great experience. Get out and play together for free at the local park or school!

4. Kids who play tennis are healthy and less prone to risky behaviors (see The USTA Foundation Special Report: More Than a Sport: Tennis, Education, and Health). Youth who play tennis …
