Nominate Your Teacher!

We understand that in order for our teachers to continue to offer inspiring lessons to our children, they too have to be inspired.

So here’s your chance to give the gift of learning to your child’s teacher – and in turn, have that teacher bring lessons learned back to the classroom.

Professional Development

Local Whole Foods Markets and Stone Barns Center for Food & Agriculture, an 80-acre non-profit working farm dedicated to creating a healthy and sustainable food system for all in Pocantico Hills, have joined forces to support the Nominate Your Teacher Program. This full day professional development program for teachers, held at Stone Barns, focuses on incorporating gardening and cooking into school curriculum through the application of hands-on, inquiry-based lessons.

Think of the joy your child could experience as they learn (and taste) just how good fresh food is and why it is the healthier choice. Developing a connection to the food we eat is critical for children and adults. Fruits and vegetables don’t just come from the giant supermarket, they are grown by farmers and your child should know the process and appreciate the difference fresh foods makes to their health and the future of America’s food system.

It’s Simple

To nominate your child’s teacher (teaching grades K-12) simply go online to stonebarnscenter.org/nominate and complete the application form. Applications must be received by April 18, 2016.

The names of the teachers selected will be announced by Stone Barns in May 2016. The program is slated for Saturday, September 24, 2016.

Let your teacher know you have nominated them and spread the word to other parents in your school. Here’s an excellent, and free, chance for you to promote healthy eating lessons.
